Buying a Pilates Reformer: What to Look For?
Share
Buying a pilates reformer is an investment. Whether you want to expand a studio or train at home on a professional level, there are a few things you need to pay close attention to.
1. Frame material
Always choose stainless steel. Corrosion-resistant, durable and stable under intensive use. Wooden frames wear faster.
2. The spring system
The springs determine the resistance. Good reformers have industrial stainless steel springs for smooth, consistent resistance.
3. Dimensions
Standard size: 240 cm long, 68 cm wide. Also account for space on the sides for stepping in and out.
4. Studio height
36 cm is the standard for professional use.
5. Price vs quality
Under €1,500 is almost always a compromise. A good reformer sits between €1,500 and €4,000.
6. Delivery time and service
Choose a supplier who is transparent. In stock: 2 to 5 days. Custom orders: 10 to 12 weeks.
